PY22 benefit update: $0 copay for mental health Virtual Visits

Mental health Virtual Visits through Doctor On Demand® and MDLIVE® are covered at 100% if you are enrolled in HealthSelect of Texas®, HealthSelectSM Out-of-State or HealthSelectSM Secondary. This means you will pay nothing for medical and mental health Virtual Visits.

If you are enrolled in Consumer Directed HealthSelectSM, you must meet your annual deductible before medical and mental health Virtual Visits are covered. After you meet your deductible, you will pay 20% coinsurance. COVID-19-related Virtual Visits are temporarily being covered at no cost for Consumer Directed HealthSelect through August 31, 2022.

Telemedicine services with an in-network mental health provider are covered the same as in-person office visits for all HealthSelectSM participants, including Consumer Directed HealthSelect. See the Master Benefits Plan Document for your plan for benefit details.

Your coverage includes care for many mental health concerns, including:

  • Alcohol and drug use issues
  • Anger management
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Depression
  • Domestic violence
  • Grief
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder
  • Suicidal thinking
  • Stress

Keep in mind that you will pay less if you see mental health providers who are in the HealthSelectSM network.

How to get care:

There are many types of mental health providers that offer a range of mental health care. You can decide what plan is best for you:

  • You could start by talking about mental health with your primary care provider (PCP). Your PCP may help you find mental health support nearby, suggest a mental health provider or prescribe medication.
  • Counselors, therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists all may offer mental health care, but only psychiatrists or mental health nurse practitioners can prescribe medication. That's one of the reasons why talking to a PCP first can be helpful—some people may want to work with more than one provider to come up with the best course of action.
